Update from February's General Membership Meeting.

Last night, our CDBIA family met and braced ourselves in the Florida freezing temps!. The meeting was held at Four Points by Sheraton's TT's Tiki Bar. This space allows us to accommodate our family as well as provide additional space for social distancing. But once everyone started showing up, and enjoy beverages (both warm and cold) the coldness in the air seems to disappear.

Four Points was decorated by our Event Coordinator who lined the walk way with al the station sponsors for this weekend's Sporting Clays Classic.

Audra, our Office Assistant was blessed to have Robin Lindecamp (First International Title) helping welcome all guests to the meeting. Four Points had a full service bar and plenty of servers ready to welcome everyone too!

At 6pm, the meeting was called to order, and President Caryn led us with a prayer and pledge. We welcomed our guests and leaders. It was exciting to have many leaders with us from FHBA:
**Al Zichella (Christopher Alan Homes), FHBA Past President and member of the Florida Housing Hall of Fame
**Bill Paul (Woodland Group) member of the Florida Housing Hall of Fame
**Suzanne Graham (Massey Services), FHBA Past President and member of the Florida Housing Hall of Fame
**Odette Embury (Drummond Mortgage), FHBA Area 6 Associate Vice President

After an amazing Italian feast from Four Points, we invited the event's sponsor, Harbor Home Builders (Ron Oskey) chose to donate his speaking time to a group of incredible people who help children in or community.

Beyond Ourselves is the community service organization of the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association (PGICA).

In March, 2012 a group of caring residents of the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association decided to form an organization with their goal: to serve others in the community. They felt a need for a structured organization to continue their efforts. This marked the beginning of Beyond Ourselves.

Beyond Ourselves focuses on three different missions. Last night they spoke about their Share the Love for the Kids Home Tour.

Also due to the pandemic our local children’s charities are struggling to meet the needs of many kids in
Charlotte County. We want to continue to help these charities in 2021 and know that you want to be a part of their continued success as well. Crossroads Hope Academy is struggling to maintain their facility where 24 boys are housed, counseled and educated. The Homeless Education Project has many unemployed families who have children in school and are facing eviction and need temporary housing and food. Healthy Start also has parents who have lost jobs, but their babies still need diapers, wipes,
formula and other essentials.
Will you still consider making a donation to help us in this effort?

If you are interested in making a donation to this group, you can make a donation online at https://pgica.org/content.aspx?page_id=22&club_id=799073&module_id=412892 or contact Marlene Hofer, Home Tour Chair, with any questions at 941-916-1985 or
marlenehofer@comcast.net. Click here for the form that was passed out last night. https://cdbia.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Info-for-CDBIA-Meeting-by-Harbor-Homes.docx

You matter.
You have been working so hard. You have been dealing with modifications of your job, your life and schedules. You have been struggled with filling openings in your company, delay of product and increase prices and regulations. You have worried about your employees, your family and yourself regarding your health. You are probably dealing with mental fatigue.
Kelly Pomerville, Director of Marketing & Public Relations for Charlotte Behavioral Health Care spoke about mental exhaustion.

Symptoms of mental fatigue include feeling stressed/anxious/depression/chronic feelings of being overwhelmed/irritability/sleep issues/procrastination/memory difficulties/increased arguments with loved one/using substances.

Some of the best ways to help yourself overcome this is: Exercise, breathe & mediate, practice mindfulness, express yourself, turning off the news/social media and stay physically but not socially distant.

It is okay to take some time for you. You matter.

Consult Engineering

Consult Engineering’s new YouTube channel is called Building Integrity. Founder and Principal Engineer, Josh Porter, conceived of the channel as an educational (and entertaining) outreach of our company, as well as a digital brochure for our company, staff and services. While the inspiration was to find an alternative to traditional marketing during the Covid-19 era, the purpose is literally to build integrity within the construction industry through education and accountability. The target audience is the homeowning public, property managers, contractors, tradesmen, students and anyone interested in construction. We launched the channel just before Christmas with a good amount of content for subscribers to digest. Going forward we will build our video library with episodes featuring interviews with industry leaders from our office studio, on-the-job videos shot in the field during our inspections, in depth lessons with Josh at his desk and various fun, informational or visually appealing short videos.

We invite you to please subscribe to the channel and recommend it to your friends, employees and customers who may enjoy it. The direct link is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9xpl8LyFRsKXASGHBBj_xQ

Once we reach 100 subscribers, we’ll be able to get a URL that is something like YouTube/channel/BuildingIntegrity, instead of that alphabet soup. And YOU can help us get there! If any of your companies have channels you’d like to promote, please let your CDBIA family know about them
