Consult Engineering’s new YouTube channel is called Building Integrity. Founder and Principal Engineer, Josh Porter, conceived of the channel as an educational (and entertaining) outreach of our company, as well as a digital brochure for our company, staff and services. While the inspiration was to find an alternative to traditional marketing during the Covid-19 era, the purpose is literally to build integrity within the construction industry through education and accountability. The target audience is the homeowning public, property managers, contractors, tradesmen, students and anyone interested in construction. We launched the channel just before Christmas with a good amount of content for subscribers to digest. Going forward we will build our video library with episodes featuring interviews with industry leaders from our office studio, on-the-job videos shot in the field during our inspections, in depth lessons with Josh at his desk and various fun, informational or visually appealing short videos.
We invite you to please subscribe to the channel and recommend it to your friends, employees and customers who may enjoy it. The direct link is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9xpl8LyFRsKXASGHBBj_xQ
Once we reach 100 subscribers, we’ll be able to get a URL that is something like YouTube/channel/BuildingIntegrity, instead of that alphabet soup. And YOU can help us get there! If any of your companies have channels you’d like to promote, please let your CDBIA family know about them
Welcome to the 2021

• Scrub jay nesting surveys must be conducted by an environmental consultant or other professional wildlife biologist in accordance with FWS survey protocol starting in the early morning (approx. one hour after sunrise) and should only take place on calm, clear days.

• Once survey has been reviewed and vegetation is clearing approved, clearing activities must commence within 48 hours.
County Warns Public about Payment Scam
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Jan. 21, 2021) – Charlotte County cautions customers about providing credit card or other personal information to callers claiming to be representing county departments.
Three contractors recently alerted the county’s Community Development Department they were contacted by phone by parties purporting to be from Charlotte County using “spoofed” county phone numbers. The callers claimed there were issues with the customers’ credit card payments and requested payment information. The customers declined and reported the calls to the county.
Spoofing is the act of disguising communications, such as phone calls, emails, websites, etc., from an unknown source as being from a known, trusted source.
“Charlotte County does not contact customers by phone regarding credit card payment disputes. Customers will know immediately at the time of the original transaction if there is an issue with their credit card. We would not be calling customers back days later to request their credit card information again,” said Charlotte County Community Development Director Ben Bailey.
If a customer receives a phone call purporting to be from Charlotte County regarding a declined credit card payment, they should contact the department in question.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office warns against providing payment information by phone to an unverified caller.
“Should you be contacted by phone, text, email, social media or otherwise and the initiating party asks or mentions a payment method, discontinue communication immediately. Never give out or confirm sensitive information – like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number – unless you know who you’re dealing with,” said Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Claudette Bennett. “If someone has contacted you, you can’t be sure who they are. You are encouraged to report the scam attempt to Federal Trade Commission authorities at https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/features/scam-alerts. If you fall victim to a scam, please contact the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office at 941-639-0013.”
