Tools of the Trade and Construction Scholarship

Future Builders of America/Charlotte Technical College Chapter have opened up the application process for scholarship to any student interested in pursuing  a career in the construction industry or any student who resides in Charlotte and DeSoto Counties wanting a career in construction.

The Future Builders of America mission is to engage in construction-related educational activities that help young people understand and pursue rewarding careers in the construction industry.

Charlotte Desoto Building Industry Association sponsors has created a scholarship fund to assist in addressing the pressing need for a better educated and trained construction industry workforce. Traditionally, at least 10% of FBA’s general operating budget is set aside to be awarded annually through the scholarship program. Since 2007, the CDBIA has awarded over $45,000 in scholarship funds to students interested in a career in the construction industry including our innovative “Tools of the Trade” Scholarship Award to those students going directly into the work force.

Scholarship applications are available to our local FBA student members. Awards are available in May and will be paid directly to the educational institution for books, tuition and lab fees or to the students instructor or advisory board member to chaperone and approve purchases for Tools of the Trade for pre-approved purchases.
Applicants should be students in good standing at a Florida secondary education program or post-secondary trades program and recommended by their teachers with a strong interest in the construction industry or related trades who desire to pursue higher education opportunities but lack financial resources or who need assistance getting started in a trade. An applicant should demonstrate an interest in obtaining employment in the construction industry upon graduation.

Application Deadline Applications should be received at the CDBIA office by April 1, 2019.
