Background of the CDBIA

The Charlotte-DeSoto Building Industry Association, Inc., is a not-for-profit trade association and is tax-exempt under IRS Code Section 501 (c) (6), although it is not considered a charitable organization and payments made to it are not tax deductible as donations.

C-D BIA was chartered by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and is one of the local affiliates of the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA).

Individuals who become members of C-D BIA automatically become members of the NAHB and the FHBA. Our Association serves members in Charlotte County and DeSoto County. DeSoto County was added in 2005.

We were founded in 1985 as the Charlotte Builders & Contractors Association (CBCA). Our members consist of individuals who are classified as Builders (including Developers) or as Associates (specialty contractors, suppliers, Realtors, financial service providers, trade partners and others related to the building industry).

We have a category of Affiliate Members for any additional persons from a company which has a full Builder or Associate membership in our local association.
