- NEWS RELEASE Charlotte County State of Emergency Declared, Facilities Closed, Board Meeting Canceled RescheduledCHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Sept. 26, 2022) – The Charlotte County Commission on Monday declared a local state of emergency due to Hurricane Ian.Charlotte County offices will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday due to Hurricane Ian. Charlotte County public schools will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday .The Board of County Commissioners Regular and Land Use meeting originally set for Tuesday, Sept. 27 meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, Oct. 4.Fire/EMS stations will remain open. Emergency Management, Public Works and Utilities personnel will continue to perform essential functions, such as water and sewer service, stormwater drainage and storm recovery operations.

- 09.26.22 City of Punta Gorda Declares State of Emergency
- From Zoning Official Lisa Hannon and Building Official Kathleen Croteau:Given the possibility of a storm affecting our area early next week, the City of Punta Gorda Zoning/Code Compliance and Building Division is requesting the following to be addressed on all job sites:
If dumpsters are ½ full or more, make arrangements to have them emptied prior to Monday the 26th. If this is not possible, please ensure that they are tarped by Monday evening.- Building inspectors will be out today and tomorrow to ensure job sites are secure.
- Whether we are impacted or not by adverse weather, the residents around these sites will be concerned and we should have the sites secured for the weekend.
- We will continue to monitor this storm and provide further instructions as required, however, we request that you also monitor the storm and take any actions as needed.

- Ensure that all silt screens are securely in place.
- Keep all swales clear.
- If roofing tiles or shingles are being or have been delivered, but not yet installed, be prepared to bundle them if conditions warrant this weekend.
